Solar Eclipse day and Evening Star Party

Solar Eclipse Breakfast Fri 20 March, 8am to 10 am

Join us as the Museum opens especially early for this extraordinary solar event showing the biggest eclipse for the next decade! Despite being just off the path of totality as the moon passes between the earth and the sun, Britain will still be treated to one of the skies most amazing phenomena with over 80% coverage. The Swansea Astronomical Society will be on hand to guide you through the morning and offer an enhanced view of the event through their safe solar telescopes. ON NO ACCOUNT should anyone attempt to use makeshift devices or materials to observe the eclipse. This would be very dangerous, and could lead to blindness.
Pre-booking for this event is advisable and will include a hot drink and a pair of safe solar eclipse glasses.

There will be a display of astronomical sculptures, some of them inspired by the eclipse, by Welsh sculptor and artist, Chris Williams. Some pieces will be seen for the first time at this event.

Stargazing Evening Fri 20 March, 7pm

Join the Swansea Astronomical Society and friends for a special springtime evening to celebrate the stargazing live season.
The team will guide you through how to use a telescope. No experience is necessary.
There will also be plenty of in-house activity including fun kids crafts and special 3D film screenings to launch you to the stars and back.

Star Party
Members of the Swansea Astronomical Society will put on an exhibition and show visitors the night sky through a variety of telescopes. An astronomical talk will be given and refreshments will be available in the airport cafe.
Swansea Airport
